The Fall Conference Speakers …

Michael Homoya

Michael earned BA and MS degrees in Botany from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.  He served for 37 years as the Botanist/Plant Ecologist for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.  He has served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Indiana University Indianapolis and at Marion University.  He is a Fellow and former President of the Indiana Academy of Science and is a Past President of the Indiana Native Plant Society.  Michael has authored many books and was honored by Indiana Authors Awards for his contribution to the children’s book, “Wake Up Woods”.  He will draw from his extensive knowledge of Indiana flora as the author of field guides on Indiana Wildflowers & Ferns, and Indiana Orchids.

Jayde Grisham

Jayce is a Purdue Extension urban agriculture educator who teaches about small livestock, urban farming, and community gardening.  She enjoys experimenting on her 1-acre urban farm in Indianapolis where she grows cut flowers and keeps bees and quail.

Kevin Wiener

Kevin is an ambassador of arthropods, an educator, and photographer.  Through twelve years in the pest management industry Kevin realized that most “bugs” are not pests, but a beneficial and essential part of our environment.  Kevin began educating customers on how their “pests” benefit nature, and his metamorphosis from exterminator to arthropod ambassador followed.  When he paired his passion for insects with macro photography his Facebook page “All Bugs Go to Kevin” was created.  The page is an astounding success, with an international following of 410K insect enthusiasts.  His list of accomplishments include a long list of photo publications, professional speaking engagements, educational programs with live animals, and contributing to science by leading or assisting with biological surveys.
