Glenn Black Historical Gardens project at Angel Mounds

SWIMGA is starting a new project this spring. In cooperation with Angel Mounds and the Three Sisters community garden group, we will be recreating the landscape of the Glenn Black House property of the 1940’s. The Blacks lived in the house, which faces Pollack Avenue at the front of the Angel Mounds Museum property, during Glenn’s time working at Angel Mounds.  Glenn Black is considered a ground breaking Indiana archeologist for his many years of work at Angel Mounds and his partnership with Eli Lily and Indiana University. Ida Black was the founder of the Evansville Lapidary Society, working with polished gems and stones, but also loved gardening. We will incorporate heirloom varieties of her favorite flowers.
