In 2010, as part of the Mt. Vernon Ohio Riverfront Development Project, a large rain garden was constructed. In 2011 SWIMGA started planting ornamental grasses and other plants that will be able to tolerate short periods of inundation.
This rain garden has become a focal point for the community.
