Here’s an overview of Master Gardener training:
· All Master Gardeners must take
and pass the fifteen-week Purdue Master Gardener (MG) certification class. In
Vanderburgh County, the County Horticultural Educator Larry Caplan teaches the
classes. Choose from weekday morning or evening sessions.
· You’ll be in class about 3 hours
each week. Tuition is modest and includes the cost of the course materials.
Note: Course materials are available on disc for the vision impaired.
· Persons who pass the class are
Master Gardener Interns, who will become full-fledged Master Gardeners upon
completion of volunteer requirements over the course of the next year.
· Master Gardeners and interns must
also pay yearly dues.
· SWIMGA members must also complete
a set number of volunteer and education hours to continue to be eligible for
membership.
